Maytag MBL1953XES2 Refrigerator Delayed Start When Opening the Door

A Maytag refrigerator does not need to start its compressor every time a door opens. A short pause alone is not enough to diagnose a failed compressor; judge the event by whether the interior light responds immediately, whether the compressor eventually cycles, whether food temperatures stay stable, and whether you hear repeated clicking or short cycling.
