GE Refrigerator Runs for a Long Time After a Defrost Cycle

A GE refrigerator can run for a long time after defrost because the compressor and fans are off during defrost and then must bring the compartments back to their target temperatures. GE says full-size refrigerators commonly run 80% to 90% of the time, and its automatic-defrost guidance says a defrost cycle is usually about 25–45 minutes.
