Is a Portable Dishwasher Broken When It Is Not Connected?

A portable dishwasher is normally connected only when it is being used, so a unit that is not connected to the sink is not, by that fact alone, broken. Whirlpool's portable-dishwasher guidance uses a faucet adapter and a hose connector for hot-water supply and drain discharge, followed by a grounded three-prong outlet.
