Thermomix TM5 Error C142: Check the Bowl and Lid Lock

1. Check 1

   Stop the speed and heating functions, switch the TM5 off with the selector, and wait until the bowl is safe to handle before touching the lid or bowl. Keep fingers, hair, and clothing away from the locking arms.

   Expected result: The appliance is stopped and the bowl/lid can be handled without heat, pressure, or moving arms; or the arms continue moving, the lid is jammed, or contents are hot.

4. Check 4

   If the original bowl and lid are correctly positioned, compare the result with another known-good TM5 bowl only if it is available, intact, compatible with the TM5, and safe to handle. Do not borrow an unidentified bowl or force a fit.

   Expected result: C142 clears with the other bowl, or C142 remains with both bowls.

   Next step: If the alternate bowl works, stop using the suspect bowl and confirm an exact TM5 replacement through Thermomix. If both bowls produce C142, stop and request repair.

5. Check 5

   If C142 returns after correct bowl/lid placement, record whether the arms move, whether the message appears immediately or after a start attempt, and whether any accessory or impact preceded it. Use those observations when contacting Thermomix service.

   Expected result: The code reappears repeatedly, the arms do not move, or the symptom occurs with correctly positioned known-good parts.

   Next step: Leave the TM5 out of service and contact the local Thermomix/Vorwerk customer service channel. Do not open the base or attempt a locking-mechanism repair.
