An air fryer may make a steady fan sound during normal operation, but a new fluttering, scraping, or rattling noise can indicate a loose part. Turn it off and unplug it, check that the basket and tray are seated, and stop using it if the abnormal noise remains. Do not open the heating body.

“Not cooling” can mean residual heat, missing airflow, or food that is not heating. Let the air fryer cool, seat the drawer/pan, check the temperature and timer, and stop for abnormal overheating or a failed fan.

If an air fryer will not start, check a live wall outlet, inspect the cord, select a time and temperature or program, and fully seat the basket, pan, or drawer so the safety interlock can close. Stop for a damaged cord, smoke, or burning odor.

For an air fryer that will not turn on, check the plug and outlet, the basket or drawer position, the controls, and the exact model's manual for a lock or delayed-start state. Disconnect it before inspecting visible parts and reset household power only once. If the cord or housing is hot or damaged, there is smoke or odor, the breaker trips, or the unit remains dead, stop using it and arrange qualified service.

Check the grounded outlet and fuse box, make sure the safety lock and basket or pot are correctly seated, and set a cooking time or preset. Persistent failure after one correct setup needs service.

An air fryer that overheats may have blocked air inlets/outlets, an overloaded basket, residual grease, or an activated thermal protection system. Philips’ official guidance says to keep vents clear, avoid excess load or oil, cool the unit after overheating, and stop immediately for dark smoke or damage.
