First locate the frost: in the removable ice bin, around the dispenser chute/flap, on the ice maker or water-fill area, or across the freezer compartment. Electrolux says frost forms when warm moist air meets a below-freezing surface; an incompletely sealed door, a warped gasket, a chute flap that does not close, very cold settings, or blocked airflow can contribute.

First locate when and where the water starts: at the rear supply connection or valve, filter housing, dispenser chute, ice bin, underside of the ice maker, or inside/under the cabinet. Electrolux’s model-specific refrigerator guidance identifies loose or kinked water lines, a filter that is not seated or is clogged/cracked, air after installation or a filter change, melted/refrozen ice, and a restricted supply as different causes.

First identify when the noise occurs and whether the ice maker is actually making or dispensing ice. Electrolux says that a buzz can occur when the water valve fills the ice maker, a clunk or water-running sound can occur as cubes fall into the bin, and the ice-maker fan, valve, and refrigerant can make sounds during an ice-making cycle.

This guidance applies only to an Electrolux refrigerator that has an external or in-door ice-and-water dispenser; a standalone ice maker without a dispenser has a different problem. First confirm the display is not locked, the ice maker/dispenser is enabled, the refrigerator doors are fully closed, and the bin actually contains ice.

First confirm that the Electrolux refrigerator actually has an installed ice maker, that the ice-maker control is ON, the water valve and plumbing are connected, the ice bin is seated, and the freezer has had time to cool. A newly installed unit may produce little or no ice during its first 24 hours because air is still in the water lines; Electrolux says a top-freezer ice maker can take about 1 to 2 days to fill its bin.

An Electrolux refrigerator ice maker can appear not to work when it is turned off, the water supply is closed or kinked, the filter is restricted or not seated, the freezer is not cold enough, the bin or signal arm is not positioned correctly, or the refrigerator has not yet had time to stabilize after installation or a power interruption.

An Electrolux ice maker can appear to overflow because the bin is overfilled, the bin or chute is mispositioned, cubes are bridging or jammed, or meltwater is being mistaken for fresh fill water. First protect the floor and any nearby electrical parts, turn the ice maker OFF using the exact model's control or lift the wire signal arm only where the model uses one, and close the household water shutoff if water is still entering.
