For a sink with low faucet pressure, first compare hot-only and cold-only flow, then inspect the matching supply stops and hoses for a fully open-looking position, abnormal resistance, leakage, kink, or crush point. If the exposed aerator turns by hand without force, remove it and compare flow with the screen off: improvement points toward the aerator, while no improvement keeps the supply path, cartridge, faucet body, or house pressure in scope.

A bang, knock, or vibration at the sink when water is turned on or off is usually a pressure surge caused by a rapid valve change, but loose or poorly supported piping, a worn faucet valve or washer, trapped air, excessive pressure, or a nearby device can make it worse. Record whether the noise occurs on hot, cold, opening, closing, or both, and whether it is only at this sink or throughout the home.

If pipes bang or vibrate at a sink, first note whether the noise starts when the faucet is turned on or turned off, and whether it affects hot water, cold water, or another fixture. Water hammer is most likely when a sudden valve closure creates a pressure surge; vibration that starts when a tap is opened can instead be air in the pipes.

A sink that will not drain usually has a blockage at the strainer or stopper, in the trap or branch drain, or farther along a shared line. First note whether one basin or several fixtures are affected, and whether the water is clean, foul, or returning from another drain.

When a sink will not drain, stop adding water and first determine whether the stopper is closed, the drain opening has reachable hair or debris, or water is leaking under the sink. Use only the installed drain's instructions to open or remove a user-serviceable stopper, clear visible debris, and check the exposed trap and connections for leaks.
